This study looks at how certain age-related changes in blood cells (called clonal hematopoiesis) affect inflammation and health. It aims to understand why some people with these changes develop health problems like heart disease or blood disorders, while others stay healthy. Depending on your situation, you might join a group that has these changes but no health issues, or a group that has them along with specific conditions.

Who can take part

  • You must be at least 60 years old.
  • You must have a specific blood test finding (a gene change in your blood cells) or a related blood condition.
  • You must not have had a stroke or heart attack in the past (unless you are in the group that had a recent heart attack).
  • You must not have a current cancer diagnosis (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer).
  • You must not have had surgery in the last 3 months (for some groups).
  • You must not be taking immunosuppressive medication or have an autoimmune disease.
