Comparing two massage techniques after hip replacement

This study compares two types of massage therapy after hip replacement surgery to see which one works better for recovery. If you join, you will be randomly assigned to one of the two massage methods and will practice it at home for 6 weeks.

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must be scheduled for a first-time hip replacement on one side only.
  • You must be able to use your arms and hands to perform the therapy or have a caregiver who can help.
  • You must be willing to do the therapy twice a day for 6 weeks and keep a daily log.
  • You must attend follow-up visits at 6 weeks and 3 months after surgery.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be under 40.
