Focused radiation boost for intermediate and high-risk prostate cancer

Localized Prostate Cancer

This trial tests whether adding an extra, targeted dose of radiation to the main tumor during standard radiation therapy can better control prostate cancer. It is for patients with intermediate or high-risk prostate cancer that has not spread, and who are eligible for a shorter course of radiation (20 sessions).

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have a confirmed diagnosis of prostate cancer (adenocarcinoma).
  • Your cancer must be classified as intermediate or high-risk (based on standard criteria).
  • Your cancer must not have spread to lymph nodes or other parts of the body.
  • You must be in good physical condition (able to care for yourself, up and about).
  • You must have at least one suspicious area seen on an MRI (called PI-RADS 4 or 5), or a PI-RADS 3 area that is confirmed as cancer by biopsy.
  • You must be able to understand Italian and follow study instructions.
  • You must not have had previous prostate treatments like radiation, brachytherapy, cryosurgery, or HIFU.
  • You must not have had radiation to the pelvic area before.
