Predicting outcomes in newborns with lung high blood pressure

Hypertension, PulmonaryInfant, Newborn, Diseases

Part of Genetic & congenital, Heart & circulation, Lungs & breathing clinical trials.

This study looks at what affects outcomes in newborns with high blood pressure in their lungs (pulmonary hypertension). It aims to find factors that predict how well babies do, which could help guide care and improve health.

Who can take part

  • Your baby must be a newborn (born at any time, full-term or premature) and admitted to the intensive care unit.
  • Your baby must show signs of high blood pressure in the lungs, confirmed by a heart ultrasound and clinical findings.
  • You or the legal guardian must give written permission for your baby to take part in the study.
  • Your baby cannot have certain major heart birth defects or other severe anomalies that would make survival unlikely.

Blood pressure in lung arteries and oxygen levels in preemies

This study tests whether changing oxygen targets in preterm infants with high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension) helps their heart and lungs work better. It may help doctors find the best oxygen levels for these babies.

Melatonin for high blood pressure in the lungs of newborns

This trial tests whether giving melatonin to full-term newborns with high blood pressure in their lungs (pulmonary hypertension) can help improve their breathing and oxygen levels. It may offer a new treatment option for babies with this condition.

Study genes and risk of persistent lung blood pressure in newborns

This study looks at a newborn’s genes (PTGS1 variation) and whether that relates to persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN), a serious breathing/lung blood-pressure problem. It may help doctors understand who is at higher risk and how to better identify affected babies early.

Comparing two blood pressure medicines for newborns with lung hypertension

This trial compares two medicines (dopamine and norepinephrine) to see which works better for raising blood pressure in newborns who have both low blood pressure and high blood pressure in the lungs. Both medicines are given through a vein to help stabilize your baby's blood pressure.

Tests an inhaled nitric oxide system for newborn lung pressure

This study looks at whether an inhaled nitric oxide generator and delivery system can help newborns with high lung blood pressure (pulmonary hypertension). It may help improve oxygen levels during breathing support, but it requires specific medical eligibility and informed consent.

A study to predict risk in pulmonary hypertension

This study aims to better predict the future risk for people with pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs) by combining different types of health information collected over time. If you join, researchers will track your health data to build a tool that personalizes care and improves outcomes.
