This trial compares two treatments—BCAA supplements and rifaximin—to see which is better at preventing another episode of confusion or coma in people with cirrhosis who have already had one. If you qualify, you would receive one of these treatments for several months.

Screening tool for minimal hepatic encephalopathy
This study tests a new cognitive tool to quickly and reliably detect minimal hepatic encephalopathy, a subtle brain change that can occur in people with liver disease. If you have a liver condition like fibrosis or cirrhosis and are already scheduled for a full evaluation (neuropsychological tests, MRI, EEG, and blood ammonia), this tool could help simplify future screening.
