Who can take part

  • You have cirrhosis (scarring of the liver) from any cause.
  • You were just discharged from the hospital after a bout of confusion or coma caused by liver disease (hepatic encephalopathy).
  • You are not currently confused or in a coma from hepatic encephalopathy.
  • You do not have an active infection or recent stomach/intestinal bleeding.
  • Your liver disease is not too severe (MELD score below 20).
