FGF-1 injection for leg pain from artery disease
Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.
This trial tests an injection of FGF-1, a protein that may help grow new blood vessels, to improve leg pain and walking ability in people with blocked arteries in the legs. It is for those with stable claudication (leg pain when walking) and aims to increase blood flow and reduce pain.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You are between 50 and 75 years old (or up to 80 if in good health)
- You have had leg pain when walking for at least 6 months, and it has been stable for the past 3 months
- Tests show your leg arteries are narrowed or blocked, with a resting ABI between 0.40 and 0.90
- You can walk for at least 1 minute but less than 12 minutes on a treadmill, and the pain is in your calf

This study tests whether a supplement called fisetin can help reduce leg pain and improve walking ability in people with peripheral artery disease (PAD). If you have PAD and are 50 or older, you may be able to join and help see if fisetin can make walking easier.
This study is testing a new drug-coated stent for blocked arteries in the thigh or behind the knee. It may help people with moderate to severe leg pain or wounds by improving blood flow without needing surgery.
This trial tests a new device called the Golazo® Atherectomy System that removes plaque from leg arteries to improve blood flow. It may help people with leg pain when walking or small wounds caused by blocked arteries.
This trial tests a personalized exercise program for people with peripheral arterial disease (PAD), a condition that causes leg pain when walking. The goal is to see if a tailored exercise plan can help reduce pain, improve walking distance, and boost quality of life.
This trial tests a supervised exercise program for people with leg pain when walking caused by narrowed leg arteries. The goal is to see if exercise can improve walking ability and quality of life.
This trial tests whether injecting a protein called FGF-1 into the heart can help relieve chronic chest pain (angina) in people who are not good candidates for stents or bypass surgery. The goal is to improve blood flow and reduce pain without surgery.
