  • Be under age 21
  • Have a non-cancer diagnosis (blood/immune problem), such as specific hemoglobin disorders
  • Have a close tissue match for the donor bone marrow/umbilical cord blood (about 8/8 match, or 5–8/8 for cord blood)
  • Have enough organ function (lungs, kidneys, liver, and others) based on lab/medical tests
  • Not be pregnant or breastfeeding, and have a negative pregnancy test if applicable
