Who can take part

  • You must have confirmed invasive breast cancer based on biopsy results.
  • Your breast tumor must be large enough to measure (at least 2.5 cm) after biopsy.
  • You should not have had chemotherapy for this breast cancer, and you should not have had radiation to the same breast for this cancer before starting the study.
  • You must be 18 or older, able to do study activities (performance status 0–1), and willing to sign consent forms.
  • You need to have a safe tumor and body health baseline: no distant spread on standard scans, good blood counts, and good liver/kidney tests.
  • You must be able to have a core biopsy again for baseline tumor testing, and you must be able to have MRI if required (no MRI-incompatible metal implants).
