MRI study to predict sudden cardiac death risk

Who can take part

  • You are 21 to 80 years old
  • Your heart pumping strength (left ventricular ejection fraction, or LVEF) is 35% or lower
  • Your doctor is considering an ICD for “primary prevention” (no prior history of sustained dangerous rhythm problems)
  • You can give consent and your treating doctor approves your participation
  • You are able to have an MRI (no metal in your body that makes MRI unsafe)
  • You are not severely limited by symptoms (not NYHA Class IV heart failure)
