Who can take part

  • You have dilated cardiomyopathy with weak pumping (left ventricular ejection fraction under 50%)
  • Your MRI/heart measurements show the left heart chamber is enlarged (above age- and body-size normal)
  • You do not have evidence of blocked heart arteries or prior heart attacks (ischemic heart disease)
  • You do not have other major causes such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, significant valve disease, or infiltrative diseases like amyloidosis
  • You must be able to have a heart MRI (can lie flat and can tolerate the scanner, and have no MRI-safety issues)
