Gastric bypass to improve blood sugar in obesity and type 2 diabetes

Who can take part

  • Be between 16 and 65 years old (with a mix of genders in the study)
  • Have a BMI of 28 or higher, and be eligible for gastric surgery for weight loss
  • Be in one of these blood-sugar groups based on HbA1c: prediabetes or type 2 diabetes (not type 1 diabetes)
  • Understand the consent form and agree to follow the study rules and stay in good communication
  • Not have had major weight loss in the 3 months before starting (over 3% weight loss)
