Who can take part

  • Be older than 18 years
  • Have ongoing, difficult chest pain from coronary artery disease despite best medications for at least 30 days
  • Not be able to get surgery or artery-opening procedures (stent/PCI or bypass/CABG), as decided by doctors
  • Have testing that shows parts of the heart may improve with more blood flow (reversible ischemia on stress ultrasound or a similar scan)
  • Have avoided recent heart emergencies: no heart attack/unstable angina in the last 3 months and no stent or bypass in the last 6 months
