Who can take part
- Your prostate cancer has come back in the prostate area (local recurrence) with no spread to distant sites
- Your cancer treatment included “definitive” radiation, and the comeback happened at least 2 years after finishing radiation
- Your current health is good enough (performance status about 0–1) and your predicted life expectancy is at least 10 years
- Your blood counts and organ function are within safe limits (white blood cells, platelets, hemoglobin, liver enzymes, and kidney function)
- Your urinary symptoms score is under 15, and your prostate size is under 50 cubic centimeters
- You can take oral pills and you do not have active infections; you also cannot be on steroid or immune-suppressing drugs
