Who can take part
- You have recurrent glioblastoma or recurrent anaplastic astrocytoma confirmed by biopsy or imaging, without multifocal tumor spread and without brainstem involvement
- Your scans show tumor progression/recurrence based on specific iRANO rules
- At least 3 weeks have passed since your last big surgery, radiation, or whole course of cancer medicines, and you are recovering from side effects
- You’re expected to live at least 12 weeks and can do daily activities at a good level (ECOG 0–1)
- You must be able to take valacyclovir by mouth (you can swallow tablets)
- You must be willing and able to provide new biopsies if the study asks, and to practice effective birth control if applicable
