Who can take part

  • You (the patient) have Fanconi anemia.
  • Your current blood condition is one of these: severe aplastic anemia, MDS, or acute myeloid leukemia (AML) (with rules about disease status).
  • You will have a stem cell donor who is either a close match from a matched related person or a matched unrelated person (not a fully matched sibling).
  • You can physically handle treatment (your heart, liver, kidneys, and lungs tests must meet study thresholds).
  • You and your donor agree to take part by signing consent, and you must not be pregnant or breastfeeding during the study; women must be willing to do a pregnancy test and avoid pregnancy.
  • You do not have certain problems that would block participation, such as active infections that are not controlled, active leukemia in the brain/CNS, or HIV or HTLV infection.
