Who can take part

  • You are over 18 years old
  • Your heart failure recently worsened suddenly, causing symptoms like shortness of breath, needing extra pillows to breathe, swelling, or major fatigue
  • You have supportive signs of fluid overload (for example, lung crackles, swollen liver, fluid seen on a chest X-ray, bulging neck veins, or a third heart sound)
  • Your blood test shows BNP over 100 pg/mL
  • You can’t have had more than 40 mg of IV furosemide before starting (in the way the trial defines)
  • You are not on kidney replacement and do not have severe kidney failure (end-stage kidney disease); also no very low blood pressure (systolic under 80), very high creatinine, or a recent heart attack
