Blood pressure study using heart MRI in adults

Left Ventricular HypertrophyHypertensionMyocardial Fibrosis

Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This study looks at how the heart muscle reacts in people with high blood pressure. You may have heart imaging (MRI) and blood pressure monitoring to understand patterns and potential ways to help.

Who can take part

  • You are 21 years old or older
  • You have high blood pressure (essential hypertension) and take at least one blood pressure medicine
  • You are either newly diagnosed (high readings at visits and not yet on medicine when monitoring began) OR you have resistant high blood pressure (high readings despite 3+ medicines)
  • You can safely have a heart MRI (for example, no certain implants/metal, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and not severely kidney-limited)
  • You do NOT have certain heart or circulation problems (such as prior heart disease, heart failure, stroke/TIA, or atrial fibrillation)

NCT05638503Recruiting
Study of heart changes in people with hypertension

This study looks at new ways to measure heart structure and heart pumping function in people with high blood pressure. The results may help doctors better understand heart changes over time and improve care.

NCT02973633Recruiting· Early Phase 1
Heart failure MRI brain-wave images after heart trouble

This early-phase study uses a special MRI scan to look at the heart in people with heart failure (and related heart changes). It aims to see whether these MRI results can better characterize heart disease and help doctors understand what’s going on.

NCT07061821Recruiting
Faster heart MRI with AI for left ventricular hypertrophy

This study tests a faster cardiac MRI scan that uses artificial intelligence to speed up the imaging process. It is for patients who need a heart MRI to check or follow up on left ventricular hypertrophy (thickening of the heart muscle).

NCT07336316Enrolling by invitation
Heart MRI study for early heart failure with preserved pump function

This trial uses advanced MRI scans to study early signs of heart failure in people whose heart pumps normally but who have risk factors like diabetes, high blood pressure, or obesity. It aims to improve detection and understanding of this condition.

NCT02648009Recruiting· Phase 1
Heart metabolic MRI using a special injected tracer

This Phase 1 study tests whether a specialized heart MRI injection can show how the heart uses energy. It may help researchers better understand heart muscle thickening and related conditions, and identify heart-related changes early.

NCT05849025Recruiting
MRI heart study using blood-pressure and kidney checks

This study adds an MRI and other measurements to a heart registry to better understand heart function. You might benefit by getting detailed heart and kidney measurements, but you must meet safety and eligibility rules (like blood pressure, BMI, and being off heart medicines).
