Who can take part
- Be between 18 and 75 years old
- Have either type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome
- Not have advanced kidney disease (stage 4 or worse)
- Not have an autoimmune or chronic inflammatory disease (like lupus or ulcerative colitis)
- Have no recent serious heart problems in the last 3 months
- Not be pregnant or breast-feeding
