Who can take part
- You must be at least 12 months old but under 19 years old when the study starts
- You must have sickle cell disease (HbSS, HbSC, HbS/β+ thalassemia, or HbS/β0 thalassemia)
- Your sickle cell has to meet “needs transplant” standards (for example: repeated pain crises, stroke, severe lung chest crisis, or other serious complications)
- You may qualify even if hydroxyurea (a common sickle cell medicine) is working, if your care team thinks your risk is still high
- You must be able to follow the study plan and come to visits/tests as required
- You must not have an allergy to sirolimus (or related medicines) or its ingredients
