Who can take part

  • You must be able to give informed consent (and a staff member may assess whether you understand).
  • If you’re healthy: you must be age 18–49 or age 50+.
  • If you’ve had a stroke: your age must be 18+ and your stroke must be more than 6 months ago.
  • Your trial visit will include a screening check that this stimulation can trigger a muscle response in the arm/hand area.
  • If you had a stroke: you must have weakness in one or both arms and still be able to voluntarily move a finger/hand/wrist/elbow on the affected side.
