Who can take part
- You have cirrhosis-related belly fluid that keeps coming back (you needed at least 5 fluid drain procedures in the last 3 months).
- Your doctor expects you may live at least 6 more months.
- You cannot safely get TIPS (a shunt procedure) or you do not want it, or a previous TIPS is not working.
- You are covered by social security and can sign written consent.
- No active infection in the month before the device placement.
- You should not have certain serious liver/kidney or brain complications right now (see screening questions).
