Who can take part

  • Be age 50 or older
  • Have planned off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery (not emergency)
  • Your severe high blood pressure must be treated/controlled before starting (not SBP ≥180 or DBP ≥110)
  • Your kidneys must not be severely impaired or on dialysis (no glomerular filtration rate <30 or end-stage kidney disease)
  • You must be able to communicate during the pre-surgery check-in
