Who can take part

  • You need a living kidney transplant from an HLA-identical brother or sister at UCLA
  • You must be able to consent, and you’ll live within about 3 hours of UCLA for the first 3–6 months
  • Your blood counts, heart, lungs, and liver must meet study safety thresholds
  • You must not have certain infections or immune-system test results (like HIV) and must be able to follow monitoring
  • If you can become pregnant, you must have a negative pregnancy test and use reliable birth control for 12 months after transplant
  • You must not have recent certain immune-suppressing medicines, immune therapy drugs, or recent major cancer activity
