Who can take part
- You (or your legal decision-maker) can give written consent
- You are 18 years or older
- Your injury is an open fracture in a major arm or leg bone (humerus, radius, ulna, femur, tibia, or fibula)
- It has been 24 hours or less since the injury
- You have not already had surgery like washout or fixation at another facility
- You have not had strong antibiotic powder or antibiotic solutions put on the wound before enrollment
