Who can take part

  • You had a cardiac arrest outside the hospital and were treated by paramedics
  • Your first heart rhythm on EMS check was ventricular fibrillation (VF) or pulseless ventricular tachycardia (VT), or an AED delivered a shock right away
  • Paramedics were able to place an IV (a vein access line) for medicines
  • You are 18 years or older
  • The arrest was not clearly caused by a non-heart problem like major trauma, drowning, drug overdose, or certain allergic reactions

You might be eligible if you had a witnessed arrest, got bystander CPR, and your first rhythm was shockable, as long as the emergency team can reach the hospital in 30 minutes.
