Rehab training for stroke arm control using brain and hand stimulation

This study tests whether non-invasive brain stimulation plus a hand/arm electrical stimulation device can improve how well your stroke-affected arm and hand move during therapy tasks. You would take part in screening and then receive these combined rehab approaches to see if motor control improves.

Who can take part

  • Be 21 years or older
  • At least 6 months since your first stroke
  • You can follow 3-step instructions and remember 2 out of 3 things after 30 minutes
  • You can move your unaffected arm/hand on purpose (for example, elbow bend/straighten and hand open/close)
  • You can sit upright in a straight-back chair without armrests during screening
  • You have skin intact on your stroke-affected arm, hand, and scalp, with no major pain during positioning
