This study checks whether a blood “cell-free DNA” test can show when the heart is inflamed in people with cardiac sarcoidosis. It may help doctors detect active heart involvement earlier and track how disease is doing.

Who can take part
- You (or the person in the study) must be in one of these groups: sarcoidosis without active myocarditis, sarcoidosis with active myocarditis, a recent STEMI, or a healthy control group
- If you have sarcoidosis, you must meet the ATS/ERS way of diagnosing sarcoidosis
- You must be a non-smoker (no current smoking)
- You must not be on immunosuppressive medicines for at least 1 year if you are in the “no active myocarditis” sarcoidosis group
- If you have sarcoidosis and are in the “active myocarditis” group, your MRI or PET scan must show active heart inflammation
- If you are in the STEMI group, your heart attack must have started within the last 12 hours and you must be getting urgent heart treatment
