Who can take part

  • You are overweight or obese (body mass index, BMI, 25 or higher)
  • You are fairly inactive (your activity level is below 1.4)
  • You do less than 150 minutes per week of planned exercise
  • You are not currently taking medicines for blood pressure, cholesterol, or “insulin sensitivity” (insulin-sensitizing drugs)
  • You do not have heavy alcohol or drug use, and you do not smoke
  • You are not pregnant and you can follow the study plan
