Study of heart ultrasound features in mitral valve leakage

Mitral Valve Insufficiency

Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This study looks at how findings on a standard heart ultrasound (transthoracic echocardiography) can predict outcomes for adults with mitral valve leakage caused by valve prolapse. It may help doctors better understand which ultrasound features matter most, using past and future medical records.

Who can take part

  • You’re an adult with mitral valve leakage (“mitral insufficiency”) caused by valve prolapse, seen on a heart ultrasound
  • Your diagnosis/ultrasound falls in the study time periods: Nov 2010–Apr 2019 or May 2019–May 2024
  • You have not had any prior surgery on your mitral valve before the first ultrasound used in this study
  • You agree to let the study use your medical record data (you were informed and did not object)
  • You do not have infection of the heart lining (active endocarditis)

NCT07066904Not yet recruiting
Testing 4D MRI for mitral valve leak

This study compares a new 4D MRI technique with standard 2D MRI and ultrasound to measure mitral regurgitation (a leaky heart valve). It aims to see which method best tracks changes in the heart's size and function over 6 months.

NCT06648577Recruiting
3D ultrasound heart muscle wave measurements

This study uses 3D ultrasound to measure mechanical waves in the heart muscle of people with different severities of mitral regurgitation (a leaky heart valve). It aims to better understand how the heart adapts to the leak, which could help guide treatment decisions.

NCT05920824Recruiting
Testing treatment for leaking mitral and tricuspid valves

This trial studies people with atrial fibrillation and moderate-to-severe leakiness in the mitral and tricuspid valves in the heart. It likely aims to improve symptoms and heart function by better addressing how these valve leaks happen.

New 3D Ultrasound Method for Measuring Heart Valve Leakage

This study tests a new way to measure leakage in the mitral valve (a valve in your heart) using advanced 3D ultrasound. If you have moderate or severe mitral valve leakage, this research may help doctors better understand and treat the condition.

3D Ultrasound Study of Mitral Valve Shape and Function

This study uses 3D ultrasound images to better understand heart valve shape and function in people with a leaky mitral valve who are scheduled for valve repair surgery. The goal is to improve how doctors plan and perform the surgery.

NCT06797687Recruiting
Studying the mitral valve with different scans before surgery

This study looks at how well CT scans and 3D echo (ultrasound) measure the mitral valve ring before surgery for severe mitral valve leakage. It may help doctors better plan valve repair.
