3D Ultrasound Study of Mitral Valve Shape and Function

Mitral Valve ProlapseMyxomatous Mitral Valve Degeneration

Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This study uses 3D ultrasound images to better understand heart valve shape and function in people with a leaky mitral valve who are scheduled for valve repair surgery. The goal is to improve how doctors plan and perform the surgery.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a leaky heart valve (mitral regurgitation) that causes symptoms, and your doctors have decided surgery to repair it is the best option.
  • You will be having a 3D ultrasound of your heart valve as part of your standard care before surgery.
  • You agree to participate in the study and sign a consent form.

Heart rhythm study for patients getting mitral valve surgery

This study looks at heart rhythm problems in people having mitral valve surgery to fix a leaky valve. It may help doctors better understand who is at risk for dangerous rhythms.

Studying the mitral valve with different scans before surgery

This study looks at how well CT scans and 3D echo (ultrasound) measure the mitral valve ring before surgery for severe mitral valve leakage. It may help doctors better plan valve repair.

MRI study for mitral & tricuspid valve repair

This study uses MRI scans to take detailed pictures of the heart before and after a valve repair procedure. It helps doctors better understand how these new, less invasive treatments affect heart function.

New 3D Ultrasound Method for Measuring Heart Valve Leakage

This study tests a new way to measure leakage in the mitral valve (a valve in your heart) using advanced 3D ultrasound. If you have moderate or severe mitral valve leakage, this research may help doctors better understand and treat the condition.

Ultrasound-guided mitral valve repair to improve heart outcomes

This study looks at whether using a special heart ultrasound during surgery (called RT3D-TEE) can lead to better results for people having mitral valve repair. It’s mainly for certain types of chronic mitral valve leakage.

Study of heart ultrasound features in mitral valve leakage

This study looks at how findings on a standard heart ultrasound (transthoracic echocardiography) can predict outcomes for adults with mitral valve leakage caused by valve prolapse. It may help doctors better understand which ultrasound features matter most, using past and future medical records.
