New 3D Ultrasound Method for Measuring Heart Valve Leakage

Who can take part

  • You have at least moderate mitral regurgitation (leakage through the mitral valve in your heart)
  • Your heart produces good-quality images on transesophageal echocardiography (a special ultrasound done through the throat)
  • You have not had prior surgery or a catheter-based procedure to repair or replace your mitral valve
  • You can safely undergo transesophageal echocardiography (throat ultrasound)
  • You can safely undergo cardiac MRI (a magnetic imaging scan of your heart)
