Who can take part

  • You’re over 18 years old
  • Your spinal cord injury happened recently (within 40 days), with sudden onset in less than 7 days if non-traumatic
  • The injury is in your neck or upper chest area (cervical or thoracic level)
  • You can follow the study plan for up to 1 year and give consent
  • You cannot be getting certain other electrical treatments: no tibial nerve stimulation, no electrical muscle stimulation, and no functional electrical stimulation (except for upper-limb FES)
  • You must not have pregnancy or plans to become pregnant during the study
