Who can take part

  • Age 8 to 18 years old
  • Diagnosed with lumbosacral spina bifida (a spinal condition in the lower back)
  • Leaking urine despite using a catheter to empty the bladder regularly
  • No bladder surgery except a single appendicovesicostomy (a surgery that uses the appendix to make a catheter channel)
  • Not had Botox injections in the bladder in the past year
  • Willing to stop bladder medications for 2 weeks before starting the study
