Blood thinner to prevent stroke after stress-related irregular heartbeats

Who can take part

  • You had at least one important episode of atrial fibrillation that happened during a recent stressor within the last 35 days
  • That atrial fibrillation had stopped and your heart rhythm is normal (sinus rhythm) right before study assignment
  • You’re in a higher-stroke-risk group (based on age and other heart or blood-vessel risks)
  • You can sign written consent and agree to follow study instructions and follow-up
  • You do not have a reason that makes long-term blood thinners unsafe (for example, certain bleeding problems, major recent stroke, or very poor kidney/liver function)
