Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older and can understand and sign consent
- You are scheduled to have the required deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery
- You can speak and understand English well enough for study visits
- If you join the Parkinson’s group, you have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease
- You are not pregnant (if you can become pregnant)
- You are not taking part in another treatment study that could affect breathing
