Who can take part

  • You are between 8 and 18 years old
  • You either have sickle cell disease (with one of the listed treatment situations) or you are a healthy child without sickle cell
  • You have not had gene therapy or a bone marrow transplant (if you are in the “not treated yet” group)
  • If you are in the “chronic transfusions” group, you receive regular transfusions
  • You can have an MRI without sedation (you will not need sleep medicine to complete the scan)
