This is a post-market “real-world” monitoring study for a heart-lung machine (extracorporeal cardiopulmonary support/ECMO) used during very serious heart and/or lung failure. It aims to track safety and performance in patients who need rescue breathing or circulation support.

Who can take part
- You have serious heart, lung, or combined heart-lung failure (or you’re likely to fail soon), and meet at least one severity sign (like very low oxygen, severe high carbon dioxide, major air leak, or need for intubation while awaiting lung transplant).
- If you’re being considered for ECMO because of breathing failure, you cannot have very severe lung artery pressure (mPAP over 50).
- If you’re being considered for ECMO because of heart support, you cannot have severe aortic valve leak or aortic dissection.
- You must be able to give consent, or your legal guardian/external doctor must consent for you.
- You must not have key exclusions such as a long period of very high oxygen/pressure ventilation (over 7 days), a bleeding brain injury that prevents blood-thinner use, or a very high weight (over 180 kg).
