  • You are scheduled for gastric bypass surgery
  • You are 30 to 70 years old
  • Your BMI is over 40 (a measure of body size)
  • You have liver fibrosis confirmed by the study’s liver test criteria
  • If you can get pregnant, you have a negative pregnancy test
  • Your thyroid test (TSH) is normal
