Who can take part

  • You are over 18 years old
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is over 35
  • You are either being referred for bariatric surgery or you are not planning bariatric surgery
  • You can and are willing to sign a written consent form
  • You do not have active viral hepatitis
  • You are able and willing to undergo a liver biopsy (no contraindications)
