Who can take part
- You are over 18 years old
- Your body mass index (BMI) is over 35
- You are either being referred for bariatric surgery or you are not planning bariatric surgery
- You can and are willing to sign a written consent form
- You do not have active viral hepatitis
- You are able and willing to undergo a liver biopsy (no contraindications)
