Who can take part
- You have 70% to 99% narrowing (stenosis) in a major brain artery, confirmed by a scan/test such as angiography, ultrasound (TCD), MRA, or CTA.
- You do not have a brain tumor or a blood-vessel malformation.
- No brain bleeding: no bleeding after a stroke in the past 14 days, and no other types of brain bleeding (subarachnoid, subdural, epidural) in the past 30 days.
- Your narrowing is not caused by a tear (dissection) or by infection or inflammatory blood-vessel disease.
- No major heart clot source is thought to be causing clots, and you haven’t had major surgery recently (within 30 days) or need major surgery soon (in the next 180 days).
- You are able to live independently; severe neurologic disability that prevents independent living would exclude you.
