Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with a specific esophagus cancer type (squamous cell, adenosquamous, or basaloid).
  • Your cancer is in the chest (thoracic) part of the esophagus.
  • Scans show no nearby lymph node spread or distant spread (N0M0) on CT from neck to abdomen.
  • Your deepest tumor layer is early (cT1b, such as SM1/SM2/SM3).
  • You are 20 years or older and your overall health is good (ECOG score 0–1).
  • You have not had prior radiation, and no prior cancer treatment unless it was fully removed with endoscopy (EMR/ESD) under specific conditions.
