Who can take part
- You currently have sudden severe lung failure (ARDS) and need a breathing tube and ventilator
- Your oxygen level is low enough to meet ARDS criteria (PaO2/FiO2 ratio below 300)
- A legally authorized representative (LAR) can give consent for you
- Your oxygen saturation can stay above 88% while on the ventilator
- You do not have certain chest, abdominal, or throat problems that make the vest or tests unsafe
