Who can take part

  • You have a confirmed advanced squamous cell cancer in the throat area (nasopharynx, oropharynx, larynx, or hypopharynx) scheduled for chemoradiation at Stanford
  • Your cancer staging fits specific AJCC Stage II–IV ranges for each throat site (including some HPV-related and unknown-primary situations with involved lymph nodes)
  • You can take d-limonene gelcaps by mouth at enrollment (you are able to swallow them)
  • Your body is strong enough for treatment (ECOG performance status 0 or 1)
  • Your blood, liver, and kidney tests are high enough for safe study treatment (meeting set lab cutoffs within 2 weeks)
  • You have no citrus allergy history that caused an allergic reaction, and you are not pregnant or breastfeeding
