Who can take part
- Be age 18 to 50 years
- Have long-lasting low back pain from one or two worn disc levels (not from facet joint arthritis)
- Pain pattern should get worse when bending forward (flexion) and with movement/pressure, not mainly when leaning back
- Have an MRI showing disc problems at one or two lumbar levels, without signs of spine instability on X-rays
- Have tried non-surgical care for at least 6 weeks, or have symptoms that are getting worse
- Be able to follow follow-up visits and the after-surgery care plan
