Who can take part
- You are age 18 or older
- You have small cell lung cancer confirmed by a lab test (biopsy or fluid test)
- Your cancer is “extensive stage,” such as fluid around the lung, spread to other lung areas, and/or spread outside the chest
- Your body is strong enough for treatment (ECOG 0 to 1) and your blood counts are adequate (neutrophils, platelets, and hemoglobin meet minimums)
- Your liver and kidney tests are within limits, and you can start platinum-based chemotherapy
- You can have study treatment only if you follow the birth-control rules and sign consent before any study procedures
