Who can take part

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be admitted to the Kingston Health Sciences ICU
  • Have severe acute kidney injury that needs kidney replacement therapy (KRT)
  • Start KRT within 12 hours using hemodialysis (iHD) or continuous kidney replacement (CKRT)
  • Be able to complete brain-related tests like cerebral oximetry, Kinarm, and possibly MRI
  • Not have certain brain conditions, test limitations, or a very short expected life span (<24 hours)
