Who can take part

  • Your baby must be cared for in the NICU at the University of Utah or Primary Children’s Hospital within 24 hours of birth
  • Your baby needs a breathing machine (mechanical ventilation)
  • Your baby must have an arterial line placed (in the umbilical area or a peripheral artery)
  • You must be able to sign consent for your baby to join the study
  • Your baby must be 24 hours old or younger when joining
