Who can take part

  • You have heart artery disease with three blocked artery areas, and you are planning CABG surgery
  • You are able to tolerate remote ischemic preconditioning (the arm treatment used in the study)
  • You do not have severe blood vessel disease in your arms that could affect the arm treatment
  • You do not have an emergency heart situation or a recent heart attack with cardiogenic shock in the past 30 days
  • Your blood pressure is not severely uncontrolled (must be under 180/120)
  • You can safely take part in the study: no severe liver, kidney, or lung disease; you can cooperate and consent; and you are not pregnant
