Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for high-risk heart or major blood vessel surgery that uses a heart-lung machine.
  • You must be between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You agree to take part in the study and sign a consent form.
  • You cannot have any broken bones, skin injuries, or infections on your arms.
  • You must not have nerve damage, poor blood flow, blood clots, or certain medical devices (like a PICC line) in your arms.
